File extension fdb information

FDB file format is largely used by a number of applications as a database file that integrates with its respective software application. The common applications known to use FDB file format are FoxPro and Navision. Ming, a C library that generates SWF formatted movie files used by flash applications is also able to create FDB files using a flash template that come with the Ming application. The portfolio database program uses the file format to hold catalog thumbnails for the database program. Fiasco database engine used in Web servers also uses the FDB file formats in its databases.
Visual FoxPro is regarded as a legacy procedural object-oriented programming language. It is capable of supporting SQL queries and data manipulation. It is flexible since it can be used to write client applications as well as web applications. Mostly used to write desktop database applications, FoxPro can also run on Linux platforms despite the controversy surrounding this capability. FoxPro adheres to xBase programming and database formats that ensure it runs on most clones that also follow the same syntax. This effort to standardize has seen renewed interest in recent years.
